Professional Landscape Bed Weed Control Services

Invasive weeds aren’t just unsightly, they also compete with other plants for essential resources, limiting how much sunlight, water, and nutrients your landscape plants receive. Let Emerald Lawns protect your landscape from weeds before they take over.

  • Preventative Granular Treatments

For every visit, our landscape technicians apply a high-quality pre-emergent granular treatment. This stops weed seeds in their tracks, preventing germination that can result in unruly weed growth.

  • Spot Treatments

Together with granular treatments, we apply commercial-grade spot treatment sprays to address any visible weeds spotted above the surface. Combined, these eliminate visible weeds and reduce the spread of seeds.

  • Year-Round Weed Protection

Our tailored weed control solutions cover your landscapes throughout the year. With six treatment applications, you can expect minimal weed growth ruining your outdoor aesthetic and plant health.

How Landscape Bed Weed Control Services Work

Create an environment in which your plants can thrive with ongoing maintenance and weed prevention treatments.
  • Step 1: Initial Consultation and Inspection
  • Step 2: Remove Existing Weeds
  • Step 3: Apply a Pre-Emergent Herbicide
  • Step 4: Monitoring and Maintenance

Step 1

Initial Consultation and Inspection

We examine your landscape beds to identify existing weeds, their types, and the extent of the infestation. This helps us determine the best weed control strategy and areas that require immediate attention.

Step 2

Remove Existing Weeds

Removing existing weeds is an optional service available at an additional cost. Our team manually pulls visible weeds from the roots to minimize the chance of regrowth. For more extensive infestations, we recommend professional-grade spot-treatment herbicides for effective control.

Step 3

Apply a Pre-Emergent Herbicide

For every visit, we apply a granular and a liquid herbicide to eliminate existing and potential weed growth. We then apply mulch to block sunlight and prevent weed growth.

Step 4

Monitoring and Maintenance

After applying weed control treatment, we recommend also installing weed barriers to physically block weed growth. Following your first application, we schedule five other applications spread yearly to ensure consistent weed protection.

Weed Control Throughout the Seasons

We take a comprehensive, year-round approach to landscape bed weed control services. By scheduling six applications in different seasons, we minimize weed growth and the harm it can do to your existing landscape.

  • Late Winter
  • Early Spring
  • Summer
  • Fall
  • Fall

Late Winter

Emerald Lawns begins the year by preparing your lawn for the upcoming months when plant growth resumes as temperatures rise.
  • Our team inspects your lawn and landscapes to determine any visible or potential risks of weed growth.
  • We apply a pre-emergent herbicide to prevent weed seeds from germinating.

Spring

As spring arrives, your plants start the growth process once more:
  • We reapply the granular and liquid weed control treatments.
  • Any weeds that survived the winter are removed through manual pulling or spot treatments.
  • This is also an ideal time to refresh the mulch, adding a protective layer to suppress weeds.

Summer

Summer brings rapid weed growth, especially in hot and moist conditions. To protect your landscape, our team schedules targeted spot treatments to manage weeds and apply the usual treatments. Please note that removing weeds is an optional service available at an additional cost.

Late Fall

Fall is the ideal time to prepare your lawn for winter by preventing weeds from germinating. During this season, we focus on applying scheduled pre-emergent herbicides to target and treat potential weed growth effectively.

Winter

Weed activity slows in winter, but occasional inspections can catch hardy or persistent weeds.
  • We apply the pre-emergent treatments to prevent weed germination.
  • Re-assess your landscape bed and check for proactive weed control strategies.

FAQs About Landscape Bed Weed Control Services

Question: What is landscape bed weed control? Answer: Landscape bed weed control involves using a combination of pre-emergent herbicides, spot treatments, manual weeding, and other weed control strategies to prevent and eliminate weed growth.
Question: How often should landscape bed weed control be done?
Answer: Our services provide six applications scheduled year-round. This ensures comprehensive protection for your landscape beds.
Question: Can weed barriers completely eliminate weeds in landscape beds?
Answer: In addition to our weed control solutions, we recommend installing weed barriers. While they can significantly reduce weed growth, they are not foolproof. Some weeds can still grow on top of the barrier if seeds settle in the mulch, so additional treatments or maintenance may be needed.
Question: Do I need to refresh mulch after weed control?
Answer: Mulch helps insulate the soil and provides a protective barrier against new weed growth. While refreshing mulch occasionally can enhance its effectiveness, it’s not necessary to apply new mulch after every weed control treatment.
Question: How does spot treatment work in weed control? Answer: Spot treatment involves applying herbicide directly to visible weeds. It’s a precise method that eliminates weeds without affecting nearby plants.
